The research proposal entitled “Improving Regional Development Policies - Sharing the German and Slovenian Experience” prepared and submitted by New Business Education (NBE), was selected for funding by the Selection Committee of the European Fund for the Balkans for “Think and Link” - Regional Policy Programme.
The “Think and Link” programme seeks to foster inclusive and evidence-based policy making in the Western Balkans by initiating research projects which are relevant from the perspective of the Copenhagen criteria 1, embedded in a regional capacity building and networking programme cycle.
The research project entitled “Improving Regional Development Policies - Sharing the German and Slovenian Experience” has the objective of conducting an in-depth analysis, and emphasis of the problems that all institutions engaged in the process of Regional Development in R. Macedonia face, and the lack of strong institutional framework, strategy and policy for Regional Development. Besides identifying the main problems, the research project will construct appropriate recommendations and policy for changing the institutional framework that should be implemented and followed for improving Regional Development, through experience sharing, following the successful models implemented already in Germany and Slovenia.
Two NBE researchers (Todor Milchevski, MBA, and Martin Stojanovik, MSc.), will attend the inception training seminar “Strengthening the role of Evidence Based Policies in the Western Balkan Countries” which will take place in Hotel Queen of Montenegro, Budva, Montenegro from 3rd to 5th of May 2012. The seminar will provide a chance for the NBE staff to gain additional experience, help and support by relevant experts.
