For New Business Education Foundation, the protection of personal data is a very important matter. For the handling of data, NBE has implemented technical and organisational measures that ensure that data protection provisions are observed and adhered to by both NBE and external service providers.

Below you will find an overview of which data is collected and processed and for what purpose. We consider it very important for you to be able to use the NBE website without disclosing your identity.

3. A. Processing of personal data

Personal data is information about the factual or personal circumstances of an identified or identifiable natural person. It includes for example your name, your telephone number, date of birth or your e-mail address.

The data we collect is divided into two categories: (1) data you submit to us and (2) data we collect automatically when you use the NBE website.

4. Data you submit to us

Your requests

When you enter your data while making a request by e-mail or using the contact form, you submit your data to us and agree to the use of your input for the purpose intended. We require this data to process your requests. The date of the notification and the IP address are also stored temporarily to allow us to identify and prevent cases of misuse.

Sending of newsletters

For sending newsletters, we use the so-called double opt-in procedure. This means that we will only send you a newsletter by e-mail if you have expressly confirmed to us that we should activate the newsletter service. If you want to receive the NBE newsletter, we need a valid e-mail address from you. To allow us to address you personally, we also ask you to inform us of your title and name.

We use this data exclusively for the delivery of our newsletter. Your data will not be passed on to third parties. When you register for our newsletter, data is collected that allows us to make the registration procedures verifiable and prevent cases of misuse. We save the time of registration and IP addresses.

You can withdraw your consent to the storage of data, your e-mail address and its use for sending the newsletter at any time. To unsubscribe, you can use the unsubscribe link. The unsubscribe link can be found in every e-mail newsletter.

5. Data we collect automatically when you use the NBE website

On the basis of Article 6 (1) (f) of the General Data Protection Regulation, the following data is collected automatically when you use the NBE website and deleted after a specified period of time:

A. Log files / access data

When you visit the website, access data is collected in the form of log files. This data includes: the name of the web page accessed, file, date and time of access, amount of data transferred, notification of successful access, the user’s operating system, browser type, referrer URL (the page previously visited), IP address and the requesting provider.

The data is used for statistical analysis for the purpose of optimising the website.

b. Use of cookies

Our website uses cookies. Cookies are small text files that are assigned an identification number (cookie ID) that is stored on the user’s device. No personal data is associated with the cookie ID, so the cookies cannot be used to identify individual users. The cookie ID allows the web pages and servers visited to distinguish the individual’s browser from other Internet browsers that contain other cookies. A specific web browser can be recognised and identified by the unique cookie ID.

In some cases we use session cookies, which are deleted automatically when the browser window is closed, but also cookies that remain on your hard disk for an extended period of time and delete themselves after a specified period of time. When you visit our website again, we automatically recognise that you have visited it in the past. The use of cookies means that the website can provide more user-friendly services that would not be possible without setting cookies.

You can prevent the storage of cookies by changing your browser settings. If you do so, some of the features of the website may not be available.

c. Use of web analytics services (Piwik/Matomo)

This website uses the open source software Piwik/Matomo for the statistical analysis of visitor access. Piwik/Matomo uses cookies. The usage information generated by cookies is sent to our server and stored for the purpose of usage analysis. IP addresses are stored by Piwik/Matomo without the last tuple and are therefore anonymized, which means that you as a user remain anonymous for us. The information about your use of this website generated by the cookies will not be passed on to third parties.

The data collected is used exclusively to improve our Internet services.

If you do not agree with the storage and analysis of this data from your visit, you can object at any time with the click of a mouse. If you do so, a so-called opt-out cookie is stored in your browser, so that Piwik/Matomo does not collect any session data.

6. Data protection statement for social media

6.1. Data protection statement for the use of Twitter, Facebook

On our website, we have integrated features of the messaging services Twitter and Facebook. You can use the buttons to share a post or page on Twitter or Facebook.

This service is made available by Twitter International Company (The Academy, 42 Pearse Street, Dublin 2, Ireland), Facebook Inc. (1 Hacker Way, Menlo Park, California 94025, USA)

When you visit our site, your information is not forwarded automatically to Twitter or Facebook. Each of these services is activated only with your consent and the connection to the servers is subject to the so-called 2-click policy.

We expressly point out that the data forwarded is processed by Twitter and Facebook in accordance with their own data usage policies. For more information, see the privacy policies of Twitter (https://twitter.com/en/privacy) and Facebook (https://facebook.com/policy)

6. 2. NBE events – processing by XING Events

For the registration, invoicing and payment processing of events, NBE works with the solutions provided by XING Events GmbH. The operator of the XING Events websites and controller within the meaning of data protection law is XING SE (Dammtorstraße 30, 20354 Hamburg). XING Events is event management software used for online registration, ticketing and payment processing of events.

If you want to take part in a NBE event, you must first register using the external link to XING Events and provide personal details such as your name, address and method of payment. This is required for event registration, invoicing and drawing up participant lists and participation certificates.

Under the data protection provisions in place at XING, the participant data collected when you register for a NBE event will not be passed on to third parties without authorisation and is only made accessible to NBE.

Registration by a ticket buyer on the XING Events platform leads to the creation of a hidden user account, but not to XING membership. For the latter, you must of course explicitly agree to it.

For more information on the XING Events privacy policy, see: https://privacy.xing.com/en/privacy-policy

7. Your rights

At NBE, you have the following rights with respect to your personal data:

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority.

If you wish to object to the processing of your data by NBE in accordance with this privacy policy or for a specific measure, you can send your objection by e-mail, fax or letter to the contact details for the controller set out above.

8. Database of accredited bodies

New Business Education Foundation (NBE) is required to maintain an up-to-date list of accredited conformity assessment bodies. The personal data published in the database is specified by the conformity assessment body as part of the application for accreditation and entered in the database by NBE.
